Long John's Surf Academy invites you to come and try surfing/SUP at the surf capital of the Causeway Coast - Portrush.

This is the perfect place to learn to surf with fully qualified ASI instructor and 4 times Irish National Longboard Champion ' Long John McCurry'.

Being a waterman - Long John has unparalleled knowledge in this field, surfing for the Irish Surf Team since he was eighteen, he holds various awards both on an national and international level - see below:

At The Academy professional surf instructors bring you everything you would every want from your surf lesson, ideal for children, adults, groups of families, stag and hens, corporate events etc. - really anyone who wants to learn this unique surfing lifestyle.

So whatever your level of surfing The Academy can help, making your surfing better whilst keeping you safe and having a fantastic experience. The vision of Long John's Surf Academy is not only to get you on a board but also evaluate, monitor and progress you to the point that you are trimming along a wave, by which time you should have caught the surfing bug!!

Results: Irish National Longboard Champion 2006, 2008, 2009, 2011. Runner-up 2005, 2007. 16th ISA World Surfing Games (Ecuador, 2004). 17th European Surf Championships (France, 2007). 3 time National Student Longboard Champion. West Coast Surf Club 2009 Champion. 8 caps for Irish National Surf Team. International Sporting Fair Play Award 2009. Sports person of the year 2009 - Coleraine Council Sports Awards.
