Causeway Sailing are offering a great opportunity to get out on the sea and explore the North Antrim coast from a different perspective while learning how to sail.
"We believe the most enjoyable trips are those where our guests do as much of the sailing as possible, learning the ropes of sailing and gaining an understanding of the wind and tides." commented owner/skipper Chris Cartin.
Causeway Sailing's Yacht ‘Evenstar’ is an Achilles 24' designed and originally built by Chris Butler Mouldings. Skippered by Chris Cartin who has been sailing in one form or another in Northern Ireland for over 20 years and regularly sails with Evenstar and her crew from Ballycastle Marina. Chris is a qualified RYA Day Skipper and IWA Amateur windsurfing champion. All our skippers maintain the full list of required qualifications.
Transport to and from the Marina and all required equipment will be provided, …all you need to bring is your sense of adventure!
Day 1. Arrive, relax with a cup of tea and some scones and look forward to breakfast. Or freshen up and head out for the evening to one of the many restaurants and pubs for good food, traditional music and great craic!
Day 2. After a breakfast to set you up for the day, join Chris and head off to the Marina for your ‘Learn the Ropes’ session. The session provides plenty of time for guests to get some experience sailing the yacht and will get a chance to raise the sails, learn how to turn the boat and understand the basics of sail trim and general sailing principals.
Day 3. After breakfast enjoy a full day's sailing. In the interests of safety the destination will be decided on the day by the skipper taking weather conditions into account, but of course we will endeavour to sail to your preferred location. Options include sailing to Rathlin Island for a picnic lunch and back or to a destination such as Balintoy Harbour with plenty of time to stop for lunch at one of the many beauty spots. The day typically consists of two 3-4 hour sessions but we would be happy to plan the day around your existing plans and break up the day in a way that suits you best..
Day 4. After a good night’s rest enjoy a leisurely breakfast before you depart.
