Salmon Rock Beach, Portballintrae

Salmon Rock Beach, Portballintrae, is a small sandy beach located in the heart of this seaside village. It consists mainly of a sandy area with a rocky shoreline at either end and enclosed by offshore rocks. 

The beach is accessed by steps at each end from the road and footpath above. This is a very enclosed area, popular with families and small children, although swimming is not encouraged due to dangerous conditions. There is an ample car park, picnic area, toilets and shop adjacent to the beach.

By Car

Portballintrae Beach (Salmon Rock) is located at the end of Beach Road (dead end) within the village. The B145 provides access from the main A2 coast road.

By Public Transport

A daily bus service serves the village.

By Bicycle

NCN Route 93 follows the heritage railway pathway, connecting Bushmills and the Giant's Causeway, approx. 0.5 miles fromPortballintrae Beach.

By Foot

Tourists can follow the UW/CCW that passes through Portballintrae village, passing Portballintrae Beach. The beach is accessible on foot at both ends, via a set of steps to the south west and a sloping walkway to the north east.
