Peatlands Park

Peatlands Park

Peatlands Park was the first of its type in the British Isles and was specifically established to promote and facilitate peatland awareness and issues.

The peat here has been forming for about 10,000 years.  Visitors can explore the 265ha (680 acre) site on foot along its many paths and wooden walkways. In fact there are over 16km (10 miles) of paths leading the visitor through the many and varied habitats within the Park.

Within the park are two National Nature Reserves, declared in 1980 for their unique flora and fauna species, many of which are found nowhere else in Northern Ireland.

when does peatlands park train start again?

OutdoorNI 12 August, 2014 @ 11:12

Hi Katie,

Thanks for your enquiry. Peatlands Park is run by NIEA. If you give them a call on +44 (0) 28 3885 1102 they will be able to advise.

barbara midrash 21 August, 2014 @ 14:25

Are any of the walks wheelchair accessible?

OutdoorNI 26 August, 2014 @ 15:27

Hi Barbara,

Unfortunately there aren’t any walks in Peatlands Park suitable for wheelchair users as the terrain is a mixture of Boardwalk, woodchip and stone. There are however other accessible walks nearby we can suggest. Dugannon Park and Coalisland Canal both have walks accessible to wheelchairs which hopefully you will enjoy. Click on the links for more info.

Hi reading the other comments above and having phoned the number given it still has not been possible to speak with someone with regards to the availability of the train rides, dates and times.Could you please clarify this for me as we wish to take a group from Lismore School on 22nd/23rd of June for the day.

Many thanks

Tina Newbrook

OutdoorNI 17 May, 2016 @ 14:02

Hi Tina,

Sorry to hear you cannot get through to the park directly. We are a promotional website for outdoor spaces in Northern Ireland and do not manage the parks ourselves, which is why I cannot answer your enquiry directly. NIEA re are responsible for the park so I would suggest contacting them

Tel: (028) 3839 9195

Hopefully they will be able to help you with your enquiry.
