Castlerock Beach, falling within the Binevenagh AONB, is backed by an extensive dune system and the Barmouth estuary at its eastern extremity and basaltic cliffs and extensive promenade at its western end.
Castlerock Beach could be classed as a resort beach although it displays rural characteristics and enjoys convenient accessability owing to its location immediately adjacent to the village's promenade.

Castlerock Beach is located off the Mussenden Rd (A2), 12 miles north of Limavady and 8 miles west of Coleraine. Travel along Sea Rd through the village, and come directly to the beach entrance.
The 134 bus passes close to Castlerock Beach entrance and the nearest train station is in Castlerock.
NCN Route 93 passes through Downhill Forest, and along Mussenden Rd, approx 0.5 miles from Castlerock Beach entrance.
There is a roadside footway connecting Castlerock Beach,Castlerock village and Downhill beach.
From 1st May - 30th Sept horses are not allowed on this beach between 11am - 7pm.
During the lifeguard season please keep out of the swim zone.
Offers many left and right hand peaks, picks up a lot of swell; challenging when big, for experienced surfers.
