About the Idea

Experience the thrill of horse riding in the North Antrim Hills. View 5 counties from Malin Head in Donegal to Slieve Beagh on the Fermanagh, Tyrone and Monaghan border - all from horseback!

On arrival at Sheans Horse Farm you will be fitted out with hats and boots in the office. Then it will be time to head to the stables to get mounted up on your horse for the session. If necessary, novice riders will receive a safety briefing and riding instruction so they are confident to set off on the trek. It will then be time to enjoy 1½ hours of horse riding in the stunning North Antrim Hills at your own level. Guided by an expert instructor you will ride on off-road farm lanes and tracks, creating an environment where safe, relaxed horse riding can be enjoyed. You will negotiate quiet streams, cross hills and hollows all whilst casting your eyes upon breathtaking views of Northern Ireland countryside including the Giant’s Causeway, Lough Foyle, the Sperrin Mountains, and Ireland’s most northerly point, Malin Head, County Donegal. It will then be time to return to the stables and say goodbye to your new four legged friend. You will be part of a group of no more than 10 people.

Horse riding takes place on Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday outside of the holiday periods. Daily during holiday periods. Contact us for more information.

Suitable for novice or experienced riders.

Suitable for all ages from 4 years old but young children may have to be taken on a lead rein by an accompanying adult.

Weight limit of 16st may apply

The session takes at least 1 ½ hours and involves 1 ¼ hours of actual horse riding after allowing time for mounting and instruction where necessary and for dismounting.
