About the Event

Enjoy the views to the Mourne Mountains and the Irish Sea as you walk along a quiet, sandy beach and take time to appreciate the wildflowers and rich diversity of birds. Hear stories about the amazing maritime history of Cloughey. You will have the opportunity to view interesting historical documents relating to the village and learn about the social and economic history of the area. Kirkistown Castle, one of many tower houses dotted around the Co. Down coast, has had a fascinating range of uses over several centuries. Parking: The carpark is in the middle of the village and adjacent to the tennis courts. Start point: northern end of the carpark beside the tennis courts. Duration: 1 hour Distance: Flexible depending on the group. This is an easy linear walk on beach/track/road.

Private tours are available on other dates by arrangement.
