About the Event

The Giant Coastal Challenge is an amazing 10 mile walk between two of our most iconic landmarks, Carrick-a-Rede and the Giant’s Causeway.

Taking place on Saturday 23rd September, we promise you world class scenery, varied walking terrain, cliffs, castle ruins, stunning beaches and most importantly a well-deserved sense of achievement when you finish (the one thing we can’t promise is the weather but we can always hope)!

Starting from Carrick-a-Rede, the walk will follow along the Ulster Way towards the picturesque Ballintoy Harbour, made famous in recent years for its Games of Thrones setting.

From Ballintoy, the route moves towards one of Northern Ireland’s most glorious beaches, White Park Bay, before proceeding towards the halfway point at Dunseverick Harbour, where we'll stop for a quick 20 minute refuel.

The final leg of our journeys begins towards the world famous Giant’s Causeway, where cliff paths lead us to a view showcasing this geological wonder in all its beauty.

If all that wasn’t enough, we’re delighted to offer you the opportunity to visit the new Giant’s Causeway Visitor Centre on completion of the walk. Inside you will have access to their fascinating exhibition, illuminating both the science and stories of the Causeway, as well as making the most of the café, toilet facilities and souvenir shop.

Some of you might even want to visit the more familiar basalt columns for a few pictures (audio guides are also included with your entry).

What to Bring

All participants MUST wear hiking shoes or boots on the day - trainers are not suitable for the terrain and especially with changeable weather. A warm coat and even waterproof gear is recommended as well. However, you may also need to bring your sunscreen and insect spray! All participants should bring a packed lunch and water too.
