The Youth Scheme is carried out in small dinghies called Laser picos and larger dinghies called Laser Bahias at Ballyholme Yacht Club.
Sailing is a sport which gets better with practice, and you should try to sail between courses whenever you can. Practice makes perfect! Once children are at RYA Stage 2, providing the weather is ok, they are able to hire dinghies on Friday evenings during Friday night Social Sailing and practice their skills with rescue cover (6.30-8pm) during the summer months.
The usual meeting place for courses will be the Cadet Room at Ballyholme Yacht Club, unless told otherwise (to the right in the main foyer). Please feel free to leave your bags in the changing rooms that are off the main foyer to the left.
Please be aware that weather conditions mean that we don’t always get on the water when we desire, however, as there is a certain amount of theory to all these courses, we try to work around the weather as best we can making the most of what we are dealt.
Please make sure your application form is in and your course paid for in advance to book a space on the course you wish to come on.
