Definitely! Ideal for either complete beginners or those who have undertaken previous adventure activities and wishing to Do something different.

Where is it located?

Meeting point is at our Adventure Centre in Castlewellan Forest Park, where you will be briefed and kitted out before travelling the short distance to Altanue Quarry outside Castlewellan for a day of Rockclimbing and Abseiling in the great outdoors!

What is included in the course cost?

What will I learn on the course?

•The basics of planning and preparation for your journey to include route choice, fitness and equipment choice

•The basics of Rock Climbing movements and techniques to include abseiling

•The basics of Rock Climbing rope work and technical protection

•The basics of Rock Climbing route choice and route navigation

•The basics of Rock Climbing and Abseiling safety to include hazard awareness, avoidance and emergency procedures

•To enjoy the natural environment responsibly using the principles of 'Leave No Trace'

What are the activity pre-requisites?

•Suitable for complete beginners or those who have undertaken previous adventure sports and wishing to Do something different

•Minimum age 12

•A sense of Adventure!

What is the activity schedule?

9.30am Start. 16.30pm Finish.

What about local weather conditions?

Due to the flexibility of the course and the versatility of the region, weather rarely impinges upon the course, and remember there's no such thing as poor weather just poor clothing!
