This is a full day in the mountains looking especially at reading a map - symbols, how to set it and most importantly how to use it to get home safely.
This course is suitable for beginners to hill walking or those who have been hill walking for years and want to brush up on some map reading skills with one of our friendly, fully qualified staff members.
At the end of this course you should be able to:
- walk competently in the mountains and know your way without having to constantly refer to your map
- identify key features on the map and apply that knowledge to what you see in front of you in the mountains
- navigate using linear features, such as tracks and rivers
- know how to use the grid reference system on maps
And hopefully a lot more!
The maximum ratio on this course will be 1:6
