Night Navigation Skills Course

About the Event

Our Night Navigation course is designed to give you a safe environment in which to learn and practice how to navigate at night.

This is a skill that is often neglected or overlooked and it's not until your journey has taken you into the hours of darkness or the mist has rolled in that you realise how important these skills are.

Is this course for me?

Definitely! The course is ideal for either complete beginners or those who have tried night navigation before including individuals, groups or clubs wishing to move to the next level.

Where is the course located?

Located at our Adventure Centre in the beautiful Forest Park beside the Market Town of Castlewellan in the foothills of the Mourne Mountains, the Centre is perfectly situated for all levels of Adventure Activities all year round.

•Topographical navigation with landmarks and geography

•Navigation in poor visibility

•Route Choice

•Night Navigation

What is the course format?

Meet at 5.30pm for briefing and complimentary Tea and Coffee. Gear preparation and departure to Mountains.

What is included in the course cost?

Fully Qualified professional Instructor.

All specialist equipment

All in course transport (Pre and post course shuttles to and from our centre are available upon request).

All in course accommodation (Centre based with pre and post course accommodation available upon request).

What are the course pre-requisites?

Suitable for complete beginners and those who want to improve existing beginners skills

Minimum age 16 (Under 18's must have parental consent)

What is the course schedule?

Course begins at 5.30pm until approximately 21.30 pm.

When does the course run?

Courses run regularly all year round - check calendar for availability - or upon request for group bookings (6 or more)

Please note that on our open courses we have no minimum requirement to run - if you book it we will run it!

What about local weather conditions?

Due to the flexibility of the course and the versatility of the region, weather rarely impinges upon the course, and remember there's no such thing as poor weather just poor clothing!
