This is the cost for the full course (3 weekends). Full board and accommodation, equipment, in-course transport, and instruction.

About the Event

Course pre-requisites

Before attending this course you must first have registered with Mountain Leader Training N.I.

You must also ensure you have fulfilled any of the pre-requisites as indicated in the Syllabus. This includes a minimum of 40 personal quality mountain days on the hills of the UK and Ireland.

Students should be reasonably fit and prepared for six days on the hill including an overnight camp and a number of evening sessions.

Course summary:

This course aims to deliver the key elements of the Mountain Leader Award Syllabus.

There will be a mix of classroom based theory sessions to introduce topics or skills supported by hill based practical sessions.

Who is the course for?

This course is for those who aspire to become independent Mountain Leaders, allowing them to lead people hill walking in the mountains of Ireland and the UK in summer conditions.

Those attending should have a commitment to hill walking and logged experience (as per pre-requisites for training) demonstrating this over a period of no less than 12 months.

What to Bring

Bring any of your own personal hill walking outdoor clothing and kit, such as, waterproof jacket and trousers, boots, fleece jacket, hat and gloves, flask, water bottle, Mourne map (1:25,000), compass Silva type 4 or similar. Camp kit: sleeping bag, stove, cookware, etc, and spare clothes
