About the Event

Course pre-requisites:

A six-hour first aid certificate recognised by the BCU

A BCU 3 Star Certificate in your primary discipline and competences to 3 Star in your alternative discipline (single blade and double bladed discipline) (boat based coach)

18 years of age

Completed Level 2 Training

Stamped CR form

Completed 20 logged hours of relevant coaching experience

Completed assessment tasks in Candidate Assessment Pack

Completion of one CPD unit of your choice or hold the alternative 3 Star Award (see CPD unit page 13 of your course guide (also available on CANI website)

Course summary:

A Level 2 Coach is expected to be able to plan, deliver and review a series of six progressive sessions safely and effectively in any paddle sport discipline.

Over the course of the day candidates will be given the opportunity to coach two sessions, one in canoe and the other in kayak. It is most likely that one of these sessions will be as part of a journey.

On the day there will also be a multiple choice question paper to complete.

Please ensure you have completed items 1-7 on the portfolio checklist (PDF 19.7KB) and return the checklist with items 1-7 of supporting evidence 1-week prior to assessment.

We advise that you keep copies of all paperwork sent to us.

Who is the course for?

The Level 2 Assessment is accessible to any UKCC Trainee Level 2 or to those coaches who had taken the Level 2 transfer route.

What to Bring

Candidates are expected to come fully prepared with personal paddling kit, leadership and group management kit, and any coaching props. You will also have access to the Tollymore stores.

You also will need to bring:

Your Coach Level 2 Workbook

Stamped CR form

All paddling awards including your 3 Stars, FSRT (if relevant), CPD and first aid certificate

Please bring your cheque book to pay your assessment fee, cheques to be made payable to CANI
