About the Event

The Blackwater Region is preparing to make a splash this spring as it welcomes it’s first ever iCanoe event, due to be held on bank holiday Monday 30th May.

This exciting new event will see Dungannon & South Tyrone Borough Council, Blackwater Regional Partnership come together with Activities Ireland to host a family canoeing adventure.

Running from 10am until 5pm, this fun-filled family day presents an opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to try their hand at the sport, promising a lot of laughs and the potential for members of the community to pick up an extremely rewarding new hobby on their doorstep.

The adventure begins in the morning at the scenic Argory, where participants will receive a briefing as well as full instructions before arriving by coach at the Blackwater access point in Moy. Here, further water instruction will be provided and the paddling will begin, with participants making their way along the Blackwater Canoe Trail towards the Argory access point.

Throughout the day, a variety of water games will be on offer, and on return enjoy refreshments at the Argory – which allows everyone to enjoy each others company and relax in comfort after a thrilling day.

Finally, there will be a closing presentation and certificates will be awarded to everyone who takes part, not to mention photographs and a glowing sense of achievement.

Funding for this event has been part financed by the EU’s PEACE III programme funded through Monaghan PEACE III Programme and South West Cluster Peace Partnership.
