Strangford Challenge 2010

About the Event

The 'Strangford Challenge' took place last year and over 30 paddlers took part in and enjoyed the event, along side an abundance of wildlife.

The event is a challenge of paddling skills, navigation and seaman ship, fitness / endurance and team work on the beautiful Strangford Lough.

Saturday 11th September - The Challenge for teams of 2 paddlers

Sunday 12th September - A guided paddle with local knowledge

Challenge Categories:

Class A

This challenging course will be 25 Miles and is a great opportuninty for the more experienced paddlers to explore a large section of the Lough and to visit a number of the Islands.

Class B

Is a 15 Mile paddle aimed at the club paddler looking a 4 hour outing. This class will also present opportunities to explore the lough and visit many of the Islands.

Class C

This fun course will cover approximately 10 Miles and will be aimed at those who are looking for a social paddle with a bit of craic and banter thrown in. So make sure and bring the coffee and scones for a stop off at Salt Island.

Guided Paddle - Sunday 12th September

Will be a guided paddle down the narrows with CANI and Tollymore Coaches along with a Local Wildlife and History expert of Strangford Lough. The paddle will leave from Portaferry at 9.00am to catch the outgoing tide to Ballyhornan. After some exploration we will catch the ingoing tide back to Strangford.
