Event DetailsThe 'Strangford Challenge' took place last year and over 30 paddlers took part in and enjoyed the event, along side an abundance of wildlife.
The event is a challenge of paddling skills, navigation and seaman ship, fitness / endurance and team work on the beautiful Strangford Lough.
Saturday 11th September - The Challenge for teams of 2 paddlers
Sunday 12th September - A guided paddle with local knowledge
Challenge Categories:
Class A This challenging course will be 25 Miles and is a great opportuninty for the more experienced paddlers to explore a large section of the Lough and to visit a number of the Islands.
Class B Is a 15 Mile paddle aimed at the club paddler looking a 4 hour outing. This class will also present opportunities to explore the lough and visit many of the Islands.
Class C This fun course will cover approximately 10 Miles and will be aimed at those who are looking for a social paddle with a bit of craic and banter thrown in. So make sure and bring the coffee and scones for a stop off at Salt Island.
Guided Paddle - Sunday 12th September
Will be a guided paddle down the narrows with CANI and Tollymore Coaches along with a Local Wildlife and History expert of Strangford Lough. The paddle will leave from Portaferry at 9.00am to catch the outgoing tide to Ballyhornan.
