The Sperrins is quickly becoming the adrenaline capital of Ireland. Better known for its rural landscapes, culture and folklore the recent evolution of adrenaline inducing activities have put the area firmly on the radar of adventure mad couples and groups of mates.
Be sure to check out our extensive list of activity events and activity ideas in the Sperrins. No experience required, no specialist equipment needed, you don’t need a big group or lots of organisation. Just make a quick call or email to the activity providers to begin your adventure.
Here are some of our top tips:
The Jungle NI in Moneymore has quickly become one of Ireland’s top outdoor entertainment facilities. Their specialty is Zorbing, pragmatically described as climbing into a giant inflatable PVC ball and bouncing down a hill – it’s certainly an adrenaline rush you’ll never forget.
The Jungle NI is also home to Ireland’s first Tree Top Adventure Course, this high wire activity course reaches heights of 60 foot above the ground. Feel you’re knees wobble and watch your knuckles go white as you negotiate your way through 40 elements including zip lines, bridges, scramble nets, tunnels, tarzan swings, and a death defying powerfan descent; the course is sure to bring out the Tarzan or Jane in you!! Check out our blog for a first hand account.
Under the shadow of the mighty Binevenagh Mountain near Limavady you’ll find Ireland’s only purpose built hovercrafting track where you can experience the thrill of gliding over land and water on a cushion of air at speeds of up to 30 mph. The Foyle Hovercrafting and Leisure instructors will teach you how to get the best of your hovercraft which can be driven solo or in tandem with a willing and cooperative partner! You can also try out laser clay pigeon shooting, powerturn buggies and max combat laser skirmish.
Wild Geese Skydiving Centre offers a view of the Sperrins from a whole new perspective, providing you keep your eyes open. A tandem skydive from around 10,000 feet will give you one minute free fall and five minutes descent under the canopy.
Just outside the Sperrins but close enough for association Todds Leap offers an electrifying range of adrenaline pursuits and extreme adventures. This ultimate adventure destinations offers 4x4 off road driving, clay pigeon shooting, paintball, body zorbing, freefall dropzone, zip line and many more activities. Check out our blog on Motor Sports Madness at Todds Leap.
