Top Tips for Adventure in the North Coast

Beyond the stunning picturesque views there is a whole other side of the coast to be explored.  Whether you’re an adrenaline junkie or prefer something a bit more chilled out the North coast won’t let you down.  The bustling sea side resorts of Portstewart and Portrush  provide a great backdrop to any visit. The North Coast boasts some of the best surf in the world, making it a great place to learn how to tackle the waves.  So whether you want to feel the thrill of riding the wave for the first time or get some tips from the pros, the surf schools have got it covered. Book a surfing lesson and prepare to be ‘stoked’.

 

For a more leisurely version of this high octane sport then head further along the North Coast to Portballintrae and have a go at stand up paddle boarding (SUP).  SurfSUPNI will provide you with all you need to have a go at this ancient form of surfing. After building your confidence on calmer waters you’ll be ready to test your balance on the waves. 

 

If you’re looking for your next adrenaline kick then look no further as you are in the premier coasteering capital of the North.  Coasteering allows you to experience body-surfing waves, scrambling up waterfalls and cliffs and flinging yourself into deep water from heights of up to 20ft!  It won’t be long until you are egging each other on to take the plunge. Continuing on with the water theme, take things down a notch or two with a leisurely sail aboard a 24ft yacht.   With a number of different packages on offer from Causeway Coast Sailing  you can learn how to sail the high seas or simply sit back, relax and enjoy the spectacular views of Ballycastle Bay, Balintoy, and Rathlin Island.

They say variety is the spice of life so, once back on dry land, head towards Cushendall and Ardclinis Outdoor Adventure where you’ll be spoilt for choice with abseiling, Canadian canoeing and rope courses to name a few of the activities on offer.
