The British Gliding Association was established in 1929. It is the governing body for the sport of gliding in the United Kingdom. The BGA exists to represent and further the interests of a minority sport in an increasingly competitive environment. Our mission statement is "to provide effective leadership and continuity of gliding and soaring in the U.K."
Governing Body for the Sports in the UK
Local Club and BHPA Representative Governing Body in Northern Ireland.
During the year the Club organises a few flying competitions and social events such as barbecues after a day's flying, and there is always the annual dinner - usually held in February or March. We also make fairly regular trips to fly with our friends in the South of Ireland and in Scotland, and groups of members have flown in France, Spain, Cyprus, Turkey, South Africa, Brazil, Nepal, Slovenia and Siberia.
