The cliffs and crags of Northern Ireland give a huge variety of climbing for all abilities, from the massive sea cliffs of Fairhead to the high tors of the Mournes. You can be climbing as soon as you are securely fitted into a harness and helmet and with an experienced instructor on the end of the rope, you need have no fear if you come unstuck, as it's all part of the fun of climbing. Climbs are graded so you know what you are tackling and any climb, even if you are just a few metres off the ground, gives you a fantastic feeling of achievement.

How To Get Started

There are many providers who offer sessions or courses for beginners, with the necessary equipment included. There are also indoor artificial walls at several locations including Tollymore Mountain Centre near Newcastle and The Ozone Climbing Wall in Belfast.

Is It Easy?

All you need is a reasonable level of fitness, specialist equipment will be supplied by the course provider.

Is It Expensive?

The basic equiment is relatively inexpensive, although activity providers will include the use of equipment for lessons.
